SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 29, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian golfer
Dominic Wade posted his second fourth-place finish in as many tournaments and the Eagles' B team posted a solid sixth-place finish in the Shawnee Shootout, which ended Tuesday at Shawnee Country Club.
Wade, a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., posted a final-round 81 on the 6,979-yard course for a three-round score of 231, seven shots behind the medalist, Gatlin Goad of Weatherford (Texas) College. Wade also finished fourth in his most recent tournament, the Broncho Invitational, played three weeks ago at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
Another OC freshman,
Joey Lewis of Oklahoma City, just missed what would have been his first career top-10 finish, tying for 11th in the 85-man field at 235 with an 80 on Tuesday. Freshman
Nicholas Gimotty of Overland Park, Kan., also had a strong finish, tying for 26th at 241 after an 81.
Sophomore
Chase Gardner of Snohomish, Wash. (85) tied for 51st at 253 and junior
Said Powers of Edmond (89) placed 75th at 276.
OC's team score of 327 on Tuesday gave the Eagles a final score of 960. Weatherford and tournament host Southwestern Christian topped the 15-team field at 929. OC's B team finished ahead of A teams from five NAIA schools.
