Dominic Wade and
Joey Lewis played their way into the top 10 on Monday on the first day of the Shawnee Shootout men's golf tournament, hosted by Southwestern Christian at Shawnee Country Club.
As it did a few weeks ago in a tournament at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City, OC's B team that's competing in Shawnee is proving itself competitive against other schools' A teams. After two rounds, the Eagles stood fifth in the 15-team field with an overall score of 632, posting team scores of 323 and 309 on the 6,979-yard course.
Southwestern Christian's A team led the tournament with a score of 612. OC will enter Tuesday's final round within striking distance of third place, as the Eagles trail Southwestern Christian's B team by only 12 shots. SCU's C team was only four shots ahead of OC.
Wade, a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., who took fourth in the Gaillardia tournament, was tied for third in an 85-man field in Shawnee, posting rounds of 78 and 2-over-par 72. At 150, he was only three shots behind the leader, Saxon Ross of Southwestern Christian.
Lewis, a freshman from Oklahoma City seeking his first collegiate top-10 finish, posted consecutive 77s and was tied for 10th at 154.

Nicholas Gimotty of Overland Park, Kan., shot 83 and 77 and was tied for 27th at 160. Sophomore
Chase Gardner of Snohomish, Wash. (85-83—168) was tied for 55th and junior
Said Powers of Edmond (95-92—187) was tied for 78th.
