Eagles battle back and forth with the Rams in the Nest

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Antonio Gordon and Karlyn Kenner had big games as Oklahoma Christian (4-5, 0-4) battled Angelo State (7-1, 4-0) in the Nest.
 
The Eagles jumped out early to a 7-2 advantage on buckets from Nyk Madison, Antonio Gordon, and Karlyn Kenner. The hot start ignited the offense that eventually took its largest lead of the game, 32-22, before taking a 40-31 lead into halftime.
 
Oklahoma Christian shot 13-20 from the field (65%), 6-9 from beyond the arc (66.7%), and 8-9 from the charity stripe (88.9%), in one of their best halves offensively this season. Kenner and Gordon led the offense with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
In the second half, the offensive success continued as OC took a 48-40 lead with 13 minutes left before ASU started a comeback. The rest of the half went back and forth, with seven ties or lead changes in the final 13 minutes.
 
Angelo State gained its first lead with 2 minutes left at 66-64, but Drew Tennial quickly tied the game back at 66. With 50 seconds left, the Rams found a second chance opportunity and later hit two free throws late in the final minute to seal the win, 70-67.
 
The Eagles return to the Nest next Thursday when they welcome a familiar foe in Southern Nazarene to the Nest at 7 p.m.
