Eagles lose conference match at Texas Woman's

DENTON, Texas (Sept. 29, 2021) – It's often said, "history repeats itself," which seems to be the case for women's soccer games between Texas Woman's and Oklahoma Christian.

In five matches, the Pioneers have scored four goals in each victory over the Eagles, dating back to the 2014 season. Four continued to be the magic number for Texas Woman's on Wednesday night at Pioneer Soccer Park as the Pioneers beat the Eagles 4-0.

OC (1-4-1, 1-1-1 Lone Star Conference), coming off an electrifying win 2-1 overtime win over Texas-Tyler on Saturday at home, was unable to threaten Texas Woman's (5-1-2, 2-1).

The Eagles' defense held strong until the 23rd minute, when the Pioneers scored two goals 20 seconds apart. First, freshman Alyssa Valdez scored off a corner kick, with the assist coming from senior Keely Chapman. The second Texas Woman's goal came when freshman Alyssa Simien hit a solo shot past the hands of OC sophomore goalkeeper Gabby Goddard.

Texas Woman's freshman Hayley Masoner owned the Pioneers offense in the second half. She scored two goals, her first in the 68th minute off an assist from freshman Mya Alcala and her second an unassisted shot at the 84-minute mark, to close the win for the Pioneers, who outshot OC 17-4.

Goddard recorded four saves.

OC will return home for its next match on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State (Texas).
