LUBBOCK, Texas (Sept. 18, 2021) – Lubbock Christian (Texas) downed Oklahoma Christian for the second time this volleyball season on Saturday, rolling to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-15) win over the Eagles inside the Rip Griffin Center.
OC (4-6, 0-2 Lone Star Conference) committed 33 errors during the match, while Lubbock Christian (6-4, 2-0) posted a .228 attack percentage. The Chaparrals also swept OC in a nonconference match in Oklahoma City on Sept. 3.
The Eagles had only 27 kills in the match and posted a .057 attack percentage. Freshman
Hannah Rouse led OC with seven kills to go with 11 digs, while
Morgan Demuth had six kills.
Brylie Berryman paced the Eagles with 15 digs, while
Spencer Plato had eight digs and 20 assists.
Hannah Froeschl had 10 kills and five block assists for Lubbock Christian and Jalee Sims had 26 assists and 11 digs.
Lubbock Christian jumped to an 8-1 lead in the first set. OC tied the second set at 15-15 on a kill by
Anna Strother, but the Chaparrals scored the next four points, with Froeschl delivering two kills in that run. With the score tied 5-5 in the third set, LCU's Zoe Parker keyed a 7-0 run for her team with four service aces and the Eagles never recovered.
OC will host its first LSC matches of the season next weekend, with Texas Woman's visiting on Friday at 6 p.m. and Dallas Baptist (Texas) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
