Bowling schedule has familiar look for 2021-22

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 12, 2021) – After the COVID-19 pandemic played havoc with Oklahoma Christian's bowling schedule during 2020-21, the Eagles' slate in 2021-22 – announced Thursday by coach James Hayes – will have a more familiar look.

The OC men's and women's team will open the season the weekend of Oct. 2-3, playing in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit I and II tournaments at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas.

Two weeks later, on Oct. 16-17, the Eagles will play in their first Tier I event of the season, the Mid-States Championships, co-hosted by Wichita State and Newman (Kan.) in Wichita, Kan. The men will play at Northrock Lanes, the women at West Acres Bowl.

The Eagles will close October in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge on Oct. 30-31. The men's event will be at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan., with the women at Gage Bowl in Topeka, Kan.

OC's teams will return to Las Vegas for a pair of back-to-back Tier I events in December – the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 18-19 and the Collegiate Shoot-Out on Dec. 20-21. Both events will be played at South Point Bowling Arena.

On Jan. 15-16 will be another Tier I event – the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill., near Chicago. The next weekend, Jan. 22-23, will be the SWIBC V and VI events, at USA Bowl in Dallas and Plano Super Bowl in Plano, Texas, respectively.

The SWIBC Championships will be back at Firelake Bowl in Shawnee on Feb. 5-6.

The OC women will have a final Tier I event, the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic at Western Bowl in Indianapolis on Feb. 19-20.

Should the teams qualify for collegiate bowling's postseason – as both have done in each of their first three seasons of existence – the sectional qualifiers for the Intercollegiate Singles Championship and Intercollegiate Team Championship will be March 11-13 at a site to be determined. The ITC and ISC events will be April 20-23 back at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill.
