TYLER, Texas (March 31, 2021) – An early own goal put Oklahoma Christian in a hole and the Eagles never recovered while falling 3-0 to Texas-Tyler in the regular-season finale on Tuesday afternoon at the Citizens First Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
OC (1-7-2, 0-4-2 Lone Star Conference) likely will be the No. 6 seed from its division in the LSC playoffs, which will start Saturday, while Texas-Tyler (2-6, 1-5) will be the No. 5 seed. The pairings will be announced by the conference on Tuesday night.
OC outshot Texas-Tyler 18-15, but it was the Patriots who took the lead in the 18th minute on the own goal by OC. Kaycee West put Texas-Tyler up 2-0 in the 52nd minute and Ashlynn Thomas sealed the win for the Patriots, converting a penalty kick in the 84th minute after OC was called for a foul in the penalty box.
Gabby Goddard, the LSC's leader in saves, made six in goal for OC. Texas-Tyler played a pair of goalkeepers, with Camri Cecil starting and making five saves in 44 minutes and Maya Dossing finishing and making three saves in 46 minutes.
