OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 14, 2021) – His first tournament win, which was highlighted by an ace, earned Oklahoma Christian golfer Alex Motes recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.

The junior from Sulphur Springs, Texas, shared medalist honors with teammate Andres Brictson in the Houston Classic, played Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.

Motes finished the tournament at 3-under-par (74-70-69—213). In the opening round, he recorded what is thought to be only the second competitive hole-in-one in the history of OC men's golf and the first since 2012. He and Brictson led No. 20-ranked OC to a 22-shot win over No. 11 Arkansas Tech. It was the Eagles' second win in three tournaments this season against NCAA Division II competition.

Motes earlier was named as the Lone Star Conference's player of the week.

The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
