OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 1, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian junior
Lindsey Stoeckel has been named as
one of 10 NCAA Division II softball players to watch this season by the website Justin's World, which covers the sport at the youth, collegiate, international and professional levels.
Stoeckel, a 5-foot-8 right-handed pitcher and utility player from Oklahoma City, was one of the Lone Star Conference's top all-around players in 2020, hitting .348 with three home runs and 25 RBIs and going 8-2 in the circle with a save, a 2.05 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 65 innings. OC finished 21-5 during the pandemic-shortened season.
Here's what the website's owner/managing editor, Justin McLeod, said about Stoeckel: "Stoeckel is another two-way, dual-threat player, and contributes handily to the Eagles on both sides of the ball. An all-conference honoree in 2019, her .348 batting average ranked just sixth on the OC roster in 2020. She tied for second on the team with three home runs and was a perfect 6-6 in stolen bases.
"In the circle, she posted a 2.05 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 65 innings of work. On a loaded OC roster, Stoeckel may fly under the radar at times, but expect her to play a hearty role in the Eagles' success this season."
OC finished atop the LSC's preseason poll and will enter this season at No. 13 in the preseason National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II rankings. The Eagles will open their season on Thursday at home against Ouachita Baptist (Ark.).
