DALLAS (Oct. 3, 2021) – Freshman
C.J. Petrin made it a weekend sweep of individual titles for Oklahoma Christian's men's club bowling team, taking top honors on Sunday in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit II tournament at USA Bowl.
Petrin and
Josh Imhoff led OC to a second-place team finish, a day after the Eagles took top honors in SWIBC I at USA Bowl. The SWIBC II tournament used a different format – teams rolled seven team games apiece, with no Baker games – and OC posted an overall score of 6,790. Spring Hill (Ala.) won the tournament with a score of 6,894.
Petrin, from Chattanooga, Tenn., took the lead in the first game with a 234 and never let it go, although it got uncomfortably close at the end. Petrin finished with an overall total of 1,546, just five ahead of runner-up Johnny Quach of Houston.
Petrin's individual title, the first of his collegiate career, was the seventh in the four-season history of the OC program and the first one not won by Imhoff, who took the SWIBC I title on Saturday. On Sunday, Imhoff, a junior from Cabot, Ark., made a run at the top five before finishing ninth at 1,425.
OC also fielded two junior varsity teams in the event. The top finisher on the JV1 team was sophomore
Mitchell Leonard of St. Charles, Ill., who took 11th at 1,399. Freshman
Ben Perez of Fort Worth, Texas, led the JV2 team, placing 29th in the 114-man field at 1,167.
