New-look OC men’s golf fall schedule announced

Alejandro Armijo and the Eagles now will open their fall season in Indiana.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 8, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian's men's golf fall schedule has undergone an overhaul and now will include an intriguing tournament on one of the Midwest's most unique courses.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, three of the tournaments OC had on its original fall schedule were postponed – the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational in Monkey Island, the NCAA Division II National Preview in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas.

OC coach David Lynn opted to cut the Eagles' fall schedule to just three tournaments. The first will be the Brickyard Invitational, to be hosted by Indianapolis (Ind.) on Sept. 28-29 at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, which includes four holes that are in the infield of fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway and 14 others adjacent to the backstretch of the racetrack. Brickyard Crossing has been chosen as one of the nation's top 100 courses by both Golf Digest and Golfweek.

The Eagles then will make a return trip to Jonesboro, Ark., to compete in Arkansas State's Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on Oct. 12-13. The tournament, to be played at RidgePointe Country Club, will feature a field consisting mostly of NCAA Division I squads. OC played in the tournament last year, finishing eighth of 13 teams.

Remaining from OC's original schedule will be the Jerry Hrnciar Invitational, which will be hosted by Cameron at The Territory Golf and Country Club in Duncan on Oct. 19-20. OC swept the team and individual titles at that tournament last season, with senior Trevor Norby taking top honors for the Eagles.
