Men's Bowling

It’s back to the postseason for OC bowling teams

LINCOLN, Neb. (Feb. 19, 2020) – For the second time in as many years, both Oklahoma Christian teams have qualified for collegiate bowling's postseason.

Seedings and destinations for OC's club teams were revealed in an online broadcast from the site of the U.S. Open tournament on Wednesday. Both teams, which are coached by head coach James Hayes and assistant James Vaughn Jr., are headed to the U.S. Bowling Congress' Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier at USA Bowl in Dallas, set for March 13-15.

OC's men are seeded 38th among 80 qualifying teams and the Eagles will be one of 17 teams in Dallas. OC's women are seeded 50th among 64 qualifiers and will be one of 16 squads in Dallas. Sixteen teams will emerge from four sectional qualifiers to advance to the ITC, to be held at Spectrum Lanes in Wyoming, Mich.

The first day in Dallas will be the qualifier for the Intercollegiate Singles Championship, during which bowlers will roll 12 games each in an attempt to advance to the ISC. The next two days, teams will roll 32 Baker games each day – 64 in all – to try and make the field for the ITC.

Wichita State will be the top seed, both in Dallas and in the overall tournament.

In the OC programs' inaugural season in 2018-19, the men finished 12th of 18 teams in the sectional qualifier, while the women placed 13th of 13 squads.
