SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 9, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian sophomore Josh Imhoff topped qualifying in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit Championships, which ended Sunday at Firelake Bowl in Shawnee.

Imhoff, from Cabot, posted a score of 2,088 over nine games, a 232 average. He won by 36 pins of Justin Pechanec of Newman (Kan.). Although Imhoff wasn't credited with a tournament win, he did make the event's all-tournament team.

Entering the SWIBC Championships, he had a season scoring average of 193.31 over 54 games. Imhoff made the All-SWIBC list for the second straight season, as did his teammate, sophomore Sam Butler of Texarkana, Ark. Butler's scoring average entering the SWIBC Championships was 195.39, also over 54 games.

In the circuit championships, Butler finished seventh with a score of 1,944 pins. The only other OC player to roll all nine games was freshman Mitchell Leonard, who finished 17th in the 77-man field at 1,835.

OC qualified in the No. 2 position for the tournament's match-play portion, but fell 3-2 to West Texas A&M in the semifinals, which used the Baker-game format.

"The men qualified second, so we'll receive some real nice points for the (national) rankings, but ran into some trouble in match play," OC coach James Hayes said.

OC now will wait to find out if the Eagles will qualify for collegiate bowling's postseason for a second straight year. That announcement will be made later this month.
