OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 13, 2020) – A sizzling back nine on Lincoln Park Golf Club's West Course lifted Oklahoma Christian's
Andres Brictson to a top-10 finish on Tuesday in the final round of the Sydney Cox Invitational.
Brictson, a junior from Merida, Mexico, who earned NCAA Division II All-America honors last season, posted a 1-under-par 70 after shooting a 2-under 68 in the first round on Lincoln Park's East Course on Monday. His 3-under total of 138 was four shots behind the individual winner, David Meyers of Oklahoma City University.
Brictson tied for eighth in the 60-man field, giving him his first top-10 finish of the season after recording four apiece in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. He was out of the top 10 through nine holes on Tuesday, but recorded consecutive birdies on the par-3 No. 10 and the par-4 No. 11, then an eagle on the par-5 No. 13 before parring out the rest of the round on the 6,518-yard course.
Three other OC players – all making their collegiate debuts – also played as individuals in the tournament, which was hosted by OCU. Two of them tied for 44th at 152 (+11) – sophomore
Hunter Perkins of Fort Worth, Texas (who shot a 78 on Tuesday) and freshman
Chase Gardner of Snohomish, Wash. (who shot a 79).
Freshman
Mason Bannister of Moore posted a final-round 82 that included two birdies and finished at 166, in 59th place.
OC will wrap up its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday in the Jerry Hrnciar Invitational, which will be hosted by Cameron at The Territory Golf and Country Club in Duncan. The Eagles won the tournament last year, with two-time Division II All-American
Trevor Norby taking home individual medalist honors.
