ADDISON, Ill. (Jan. 18, 2020) –
Sam Butler rolled three games of 200 or better to lead Oklahoma Christian on Saturday on the opening day of the Kegel-ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic at Stardust Bowl in suburban Chicago.
In the team race, the Eagles – who competed in the Tier I tournament's second, afternoon/evening wave – were in 48th place in the 75-team field with a five-game score of 4,526. Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) led the field with a score of 5,435.
Butler, a sophomore from Texarkana, Texas, finished 113th individually at 965, rolling a 200 in game one, a 211 in game three and a 213 in game five. Fellow sophomore
Josh Imhoff of Cabot, Ark., was 179th in the 489-man field at 909, with a 201 in game two and a 203 in game five.
The only other OC player to roll all five games was
Jacob Hastings. The sophomore from McKinney, Texas, posted a score of 886, with a top game of 192.
Sophomore
Leotis Johnson Jr., from nearby Chicago, rolled the Eagles' top game, a 223 in game four. Freshmen
Mitchell Leonard and Michael Gredler also bowled for OC, with Gredler contributing a 202 in game four.
The tournament will finish Sunday with 20 Baker games. OC will again be in the tournament's second wave of teams and is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
