Eagles 14th after opening day at sectional qualifier

OC's men were 14th after the first day of ITC Sectional Qualifying in Dallas.
DALLAS (March 9, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's first-year men's bowling club program has some work to do if the Eagles want the season to continue beyond Sunday.

On Saturday, the first day of the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier at USA Bowl, the Eagles  posted a score of 5,745 over 32 Baker games, leaving them in 14th place in the event that's the first stage of the postseason in collegiate bowling.

The top four teams after 32 more Baker games on Sunday will advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships, set for April 17-20 at Poelking Lanes South in Dayton, Ohio. Leading the way in the 18-team field after Saturday were McKendree (Ill.) at 6,433, Wichita State at 6,286, Grand Canyon at 6,276 and William Penn (Iowa) at 6,236.

The Eagles rolled five games of 200 or higher in the first block of 16 Baker games, after which they were in 12th place, but had only for 200-plus games in the second block and dropped two spots. OC's highest scores were a 216 in game 12, a 220 in game 23 and a 227 in game 27.

Competition will resume at 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
