OKLAHOMA CITY (March 31, 2019) – A first career win, and the second by an Oklahoma Christian golfer in as many weeks, earned
Andres Brictson recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Brictson, a sophomore from Merida, Mexico, provided a dramatic finish for both himself and the Eagles in the St. Edward's Invitational at Onion Creek Club's North Course in Austin, Texas. After shooting 3-over-par 73 in the opening round, he rebounded with a career-best round of 65 in the second round to move into a share of the lead after the tournament's first day on Monday.
On Tuesday, he held onto that lead, firing a 67 to finish at 5-under 205 for the tournament. Brictson took a one-shot lead into par-5 No. 18 and sealed his win with a birdie that also gave the Eagles a share of the team title with Midwestern State (Texas). The team win was OC's fourth of the 2018-19 season.
Brictson's first win followed by one week the first win for teammate
Trevor Norby, who won the Broncho Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club's East Course in Edmond. As did Norby the previous week, Brictson received the Heartland Conference's player-of-the-week honor.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
