OKLAHOMA CITY (March 27, 2019) – A day after winning his first collegiate golf title, Oklahoma Christian's
Andres Brictson was named Wednesday as the Heartland Conference's men's player of the week.
Brictson, a sophomore from Merida, Mexico, earned medalist honors at the St. Edward's Invitational, which ended Tuesday at Onion Creek Club's North Course in Austin, Texas. He finished the tournament at 5-under 205 for a two-shot win.
After a first-round 73, Brictson shot a career-best round of 65 to move into a share of the lead, then held that lead throughout the final round with a 3-under 67. His birdie on No. 18 on Tuesday not only secured himself the individual win, it lifted the Eagles into a tie for the team title with Midwestern State (Texas). It was OC's fourth tournament win of the season.
Brictson is the second OC player in as many weeks to both win a tournament and receive the weekly Heartland honor, joining
Trevor Norby, who won the Broncho Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club's East Course in Edmond.
Brictson is the third OC player this season to win the Heartland weekly honor, joining Norby and
Cameron Brown, who took the honor in October. Two other current Eagles, seniors
Juan Pallach and
Ethan Smith, also have won the honor during their careers, and another OC senior,
Garrett White, was the Heartland Conference Championship medalist last April.
