OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 13, 2019) – Trips to at least five states – and perhaps more – are on the docket for Oklahoma Christian's men's golf team during the spring season, OC coach
David Lynn said Friday.
The Eagles are coming off a superb fall season, during which they won three of their four tournaments, didn't lose to a NCAA Division II foe and rose to No. 6 in the Division II coaches' poll. They are the defending champions in their opening tournament of the spring, the Fujikura Invitational, hosted by California State-San Marcos on Feb. 3-4 at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista, Calif., near San Diego.
OC will head south three weeks later for the St. Mary's Invitational at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio on Feb. 24-25, then west for the Las Vegas Desert Classic, hosted by Missouri-St. Louis at Royal Links Golf Club in Las Vegas from March 1-3.
The Eagles' one local appearance of the season will be March 16-17, when they will play in Central Oklahoma's Broncho Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club's East Course in Edmond. OC senior
Trevor Norby won the individual title in that tournament in 2019.
The following week, March 23-24, the Eagles and junior
Andres Brictson will try to defend their team and individual titles, respectively, in the Golf Glove Hub St. Edward's Invitational at Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas.
The Eagles will play in the Division II South Central-West Regional Preview on March 30-31 at University Golf Club in Las Cruces, N.M. That's the same course on which OC finished second in the 2016 Regional Championship to advance to the Division II Championship in its first season of eligibility to do so.
OC won the Heartland Conference Championship last season before moving into the Lone Star Conference and the Eagles will compete in their first LSC Championship at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington, Texas, from April 13-15.
Should the Eagles qualify for the NCAA postseason, the South Central-West Regional Championship will be May 4-6 back in Las Cruces, with the Division II Championship set for May 12-16 at the Country Club of St. Albans in St. Albans, Mo.
