Hazel scores again, but Eagles fall at St. Mary’s

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 12, 2019) – Carson Hazel scored a goal for a second straight game, but Oklahoma Christian lost 4-1 to St. Mary's (Texas) on Saturday afternoon at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

St. Mary's (4-6, 2-3 Lone Star Conference) took an early lead over OC (1-10, 1-5) when Alexia Maldonado scored her third goal of the season, coming in the sixth minute off an assist from Tori Permillion. The Rattlers made it 2-0 in the 30th minute when Lauren Mlouhi assisted on Serena Frank's fourth goal of the season.

Mlouhi scored an unassisted goal to put St. Mary's ahead 3-0 in the 48th minute before the Eagles briefly rallied. Brianna Concienne fired a shot off the right post in the 56th minute The carom went to Hazel, a freshman from Tulsa, Okla., who beat St. Mary's goalkeeper Erin Longford.

It was the second goal of the season for Hazel, with her first coming Thursday in a 2-1 win at Texas A&M International, and the second assist of the week for Concienne, who also assisted on Jordan Freidenbloom's game-winner at TAMIU.

St. Mary's sealed its win in the 76th minute when Permillion scored. Mlouhi recorded her second assist of the game on the play. The Rattlers outshot OC 20-14.

Longford had three saves in 81 minutes of work before giving way to Cameron Koerner, who had none. OC goalkeeper Gabby Goddard had three saves in 81 minutes, with sophomore Paulina Dziubek making her first appearance of the season. Dziubek recorded two saves in her nine minutes of relief.

OC will wrap up its three-game road stretch on Thursday when the Eagles visit Midwestern State (Texas).
