Box Score DALLAS (Sept. 15, 2016) – Heartland Conference women's power Dallas Baptist (Texas) seized control in the opening minutes and held off Oklahoma Christian 3-1 on Thursday night at the Patriot Soccer Field.
OC (1-4, 0-2 Heartland) outshot the Patriots 14-11 but the Lady Eagles didn't break through until the 89th minute, when sophomore midfielder
Rubi Villegas Aguilar scored her first goal of the season.
The game started more than 30 minutes late due to lightning in the area during pre-game warmups, but Dallas Baptist (1-3-1, 1-1) scored quickly once play started, on a goal by McKenna Namken in the fourth minute, assisted by Lindsey Washburn.
Dallas Baptist goalkeeper Hope Koym made six saves, including one during a quick two-shot sequence by OC's
Lauren Parker in the 10th minute, after Parker's initial shot was blocked by a defender.
The Patriots put away the game with two goals about three minutes apart in the second half. Namken assisted on a score by Geneva Martinez in the 61st minute, then did the same on the goal by Washburn in the 64th minute.
Villegas Aguilar beat goalkeeper Grace Johnson, who had replaced Koym minutes earlier, for OC's only goal.
