Box Score WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 27, 2016) – Newman (Kan.) jumped on Oklahoma Christian for two goals in the first 10 minutes and cruised to a 3-0 win over the Lady Eagles on Thursday night at Wilkins Field.
Newman (6-6-5, 5-5-3 Heartland Conference) , which battled OC (4-11-2, 2-9-2) to a scoreless draw earlier this women's soccer season, outshot OC by a 19-9 margin the second time around and controlled the action throughout, something which bothered OC coach
Randall Robison.
"We were very flat tonight and simply didn't compete," Robison said. "It was certainly one of our worst performances of this season. I know our players feel like we should have performed much better tonight."
Morgan Foster scored both of the Jets' early goals, each off a long pass into the box – in the fifth minute by Madison Decker and in the 10th minute by Rosa Urista-Chico. From there, it was an uphill battle for OC.
Foster assisted on Newman's third goal, in the 50th minute by Erin Mink.
Dakota Milner led OC with three shots, while
Rubi Villegas Aguilar and
Darrian Palacios had two each.
OC goalkeeper
Carina Schanz made seven saves, giving her 102 for the season, the third-highest total in the Heartland.
Newman's goalkeepers split time, with Ashley Sweetnam playing the first half and making three saves and Kelsi Langley making one save while playing the second half.
OC will wrap up its season on Saturday with a game at league rival Rogers State.
