Box Score WICHITA, Kan. (Sept. 3, 2015) – It wasn't quite the start to the women's soccer season Oklahoma Christian had hoped for, but the Lady Eagles did manage to earn a result in their season opener Thursday night at Newman (Kan.).

OC led most of the match, but surrendered a late goal and ended up with a 1-1 draw at Wilkins Field in the Lady Eagles' first game since the university became a full member of NCAA Division II.

The game was a nonconference meeting between the two Heartland Conference rivals. They'll play again at OC on Oct. 31, with that game counting in the league standings.

OC freshman Rubi Villegas Aguilar gave her team the lead in the 27th minute, taking a pass from the left side from Sydni Wiles and beating Newman goalkeeper Kayleigh Renfro.

For the next 55 minutes, the Lady Eagles maintained their narrow lead. But in the 82nd minute, Morgan Foster tied the game for the Jets, putting a rebound shot past OC goalkeeper Carina Schanz. Newman's Aliya Marshall received the assist on Foster's goal.

OC managed only one shot during the two overtime period while Schanz saved Newman's only real OT opportunity, a shot by Bianca Torres. Schanz, a freshman, finished with six saves. Renfro had two in the first half for Newman before giving way to Kelsi Langley, who also had two saves in her 65 minutes of playing time.

Newman outshot the Lady Eagles 11-8.

The Lady Eagles will be on the road again Saturday, taking on Northeastern State, before hosting Hillsdale Baptist in their home opener on Sept. 12.
