Moon named as Oklahoma collegiate player of week by website

OC center John Moon has been named as the state college player of the week by the website OklahomaSports.net.
DURANT, Okla. (Dec. 1, 2015) – John Moon's outstanding performance in the Central Oklahoma Thanksgiving Classic has earned the Oklahoma Christian center yet another weekly honor.

The Durant-based website OklahomaSports.net named the 7-foot junior from Crescent as its state college player of the week, presented by First United. The winners are chosen from among all of the state's NCAA Division II, NAIA and NCCAA programs – about 20 schools in all.

Moon posted a pair of dominating outings in the event at UCO. In a 92-91 win over Southern Nazarene on Friday, he set career highs for points (38) and blocked shots (six), grabbed 12 rebounds (including a key offensive board in the final moments), had three assists and hit the game-winning free throw with 1.2 seconds left.

He followed that with a 20-point, nine-rebound outing in a loss to Oklahoma City University on Saturday while also extending his streak of having recorded at least one blocked shot to 30 games.

On Monday, Moon was named as the Heartland Conference's player of the week.

He will enter OC's game Tuesday against Dallas Christian (Texas) ranked eighth in Division II in blocked shots per game (3.0), 13th in total blocks (15) and 26th in rebounds per game (10.0). He leads the Heartland in all three categories.
