Box Score ODESSA, Texas (Oct. 8, 2015) – When Oklahoma Christian women's soccer coach
Randall Robison announced the signing of
Rubí Villegas Aguilar earlier this year, he said she'd quickly become an offensive force for the Lady Eagles.
She proved her coach right again Thursday night, scoring on a 25-yard blast in the 16th minute to provide OC's margin of victory in a 1-0 win at Texas-Permian Basin.
OC (4-5-1, 1-2 Heartland Conference) has won multiple road games in a season for the first time since the 2012 season, having beaten Southern Nazarene on the road on Sept. 15 behind a pair of goals from Villegas Aguilar, who has scored a team-high five goals in 2015.
UTPB (1-8-1, 1-2) outshot OC by a 13-6 count, but OC goalkeeper
Carina Schanz was up to the task, making six saves while posting her third shutout of the season.
Villegas Aguilar's goal, off an assist from
Madeline Roseke, came on the Lady Eagles' first shot of the game. UTPB goalkeeper Ebony Campbell made three saves, but was fortunate in the 82nd minute, when a shot by OC freshman
Karolina Srutkova hit the post.
OC is now 3-3 overall against the Falcons since joining the Heartland Conference with the 2013 season.
The Lady Eagles will continue their four-game road stretch on Saturday, when they visit Lubbock Christian (Texas).
