Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas (Oct. 10, 2015) – Things started about as well as Oklahoma Christian could have hoped for on Saturday at Lubbock Christian (Texas). Facing a team expected to finish in the top three in the Heartland Conference, the Lady Eagles seized a lead in the first 25 minutes.
But it quickly turned sour for OC, as Lubbock Christian answered with three quick goals en route to a 5-1 win at the LCU Soccer Field.
OC (4-6-1, 1-3 Heartland Conference) jumped ahead in the 24th minute on the strength of a goal by freshman
Rubí Villegas Aguilar, who drove through the Chaparrals' defense and beat goalkeeper Leslie Castellano from eight yards.
It was the second straight game during which Villegas Aguilar scored an early goal, as her score in the 16th minute on Thursday was the different in OC's 1-0 win at Texas-Permian Basin. But this time, the Lady Eagles couldn't hold the lead.
Kate O'Gara tied the game for Lubbock Christian (6-2-3, 4-0), sending a free kick from 24 yards past OC goalkeeper
Carina Schanz in the 30th minute. Less than five minutes later, O'Gara assisted on a goal by Brooke Wendl. The Chaparrals received a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, which Jamie Boone converted to put her team ahead 3-1.
Boone scored from about three yards in the 78th minute after a shot by Gracie Jenkins deflected off Schanz, and Ashley Ledford added a goal in the 89th minute off an assists from Jocelyn Richardson.
Lubbock Christian posted a 17-4 edge in shots. Schanz finished with two saves, while Castellano had one.
OC's four-game road stretch will continue next Thursday, when the Lady Eagles will visit Heartland rival Texas A&M International.
