SNU holds off Eagles, 72-65

Despite double-doubles from Charles Baldwin and Keith Harris, No. 21 Oklahoma Christian fell at No. 7 Southern Nazarene 72-65 Monday night.

The loss was OC's fourth straight, dropping their record to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

OC and SNU exchanged three leads and four ties in the first half, with neither team leading by double digits. OC took a 14-11 lead when Baldwin hit a three-pointer at the 14:13 mark.

After being deadlocked at 22 with nine minutes to play, SNU went on a 16-7 run to end the half and led 38-29 at intermission.

The Crimson Storm lead grew to as much as 15 in the second half before a furious OC rally cut the lead to four with under three minutes left.

Harris, the SAC's leading scorer, was held scoreless until the nine-minute mark of the second stanza when he tipped in a miss for his first points.

Harris went on to score 14 more points in the game's closing nine minutes and hit a pair of free throws with 2:54 remaining to cut the deficit to 63-59.

A three-pointer from SNU's Leroy Dawson put the Storm back up by seven with 2:33 left and free throws down the stretch secured the home team's victory.

Baldwin recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow Houston North Shore product Harris also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Micah Miles added 15 points and six rebounds. Dawson paced SNU with 20 points.

OC next takes the floor Thursday at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee. The Eagles defeated the Bison 71-67 on Jan. 11. The women's game will tip at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
