OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Oct. 21, 2008) – The Oklahoma Christian University soccer teams took care of St. Gregory's University (Okla.) Tuesday on "Senior Night" at the OC Soccer Field.

The Lady Eagles scored a 4-0 shutout over St. Gregory's, while the Eagles flew by the Cavaliers 4-1.

Women's game:

It did not take the Lady Eagles long to find the net in the first game of the night. Just four minutes into the action, freshman Taylor Cofer made it 1-0 on a long-distance shot with help from Emma Cole. The score was Cofer's second of the season.

The 1-0 tally stood through the rest of the first half and into the second stanza.

But OC piled on with three goals in a 20-minute stretch beginning with a beautiful header-goal from Stephanie Duncan at 48:39. Cofer got the assist on the play after perfectly placing a corner kick for Duncan.

Duncan did it with her head again at the 64:22 mark with help from Cofer to make it 2-0. Cofer then picked up her third assist of the night when she found Jill Lintner to up the margin to 4-0 in the 68th minute.

The two scores give Duncan a team-best eight goals in 2008.

OC's defense was stellar all game. The unit allowed only two shots, while the Lady Eagle offense fired 23 shots in the game (14 shots on goal).

Lisa Jorgensen, the Lady Eagles' lone senior, ended her home regular-season career in style with her fifth shutout of the season. The Oklahoma City native now has 16 shutouts in her four-year career.

The Lady Eagles improved to 6-7-1 on the season and 3-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference with the victory.

Men's game:

The Eagles jumped on top of SGU in middle of first half when Cristian Fernandes found the back of the net in the 34th minute off of a free kick.

The score would stay 1-0 for the remainder of the first half and much of the second half.

Beginning in the 80th minute of the game, both teams put on a show by scoring four goals in the final 10 minutes.

The Eagles started the scoring frenzy when Trey Boykin took a pass from Fernandes to make the score 2-0.

Six minutes later, it was Boykin again, this time striking from deep on the right side of the field to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

SGU would avoid the shutout in the 88th minute when Antonio Ycaza barley beat Eagle goalkeeper Bryan Cochrum to make it a 3-1 Eagle lead.

In the final minute of the game, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick when Josh Yax of SGU was given a yellow card inside of the goalkeeper's box.

Fernandes stepped up and put the ball in the net to finish off the 4-1 victory.

The Eagles put 13 shots on goal to SGU's five. Cochrum made four saves to pick up the win.

Both teams get a week off before heading to Southern Nazarene next Tuesday, Oct. 28 to continue SAC play. SNU's men's team is ranked third in the NAIA, while the women's team is 14th. Game times are slated for 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men) in Bethany.
