OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 29, 2012) – Lauren Heller scored a pair of first-half goals as No. 3-ranked St. Edward's blanked Oklahoma Christian 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Heartland Conference power St. Edward's (9-0) took the lead less than five minutes into the game and steadily pulled away from OC (1-7), which lost its seventh straight game. The Hilltoppers outshot OC 20-4 and 10 players for St. Edward's scored either a goal or an assist.
Rachel Murray put the Hilltoppers ahead 1-0 off an assist from Olivia Collado and St. Edward's was off and running. Heller scored for the Hilltoppers in the 13th and 19th minutes and Taylor Settecerri's goal made it 4-0 in the 30th minute.
Mikayla Engel, Adrianna Ferrari and Kelly Davis scored in the second half for St. Edward's. OC's starting goalkeeper, Lindsey Williams, gave up four goals with one save while Anna Walker, who relieved Williams in the 32nd minute, gave up three goals and had six saves.
Callie White had two of OC's four shots, while Mackenzii Bieke and Gigi Gonzalez had the others. The Hilltoppers' starting goalkeeper, Danielle Licarione, had two saves while backup Audrey McGinnis, who entered the game in the 59th minute, didn't record a save.
The Lady Eagles will play their next three games on the road, starting at Texas-Permian Basin on Thursday.
