The Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles remained undefeated in the Sooner Athletic Conference soccer race after a double overtime, 1-1, standoff with Northwestern Oklahoma State University here Oct. 6.
Coming into the game with a 3-0 record in league play, 8-4 overall, OC used a second half goal off a penalty kick to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half OC sophomore Taryn Caylor was fouled in the box with 14:42 to play. Sophomore Kristin Brown stepped in to take the penalty shot and successfully booted the ball into the far left corner of the net. It was Brown's 10th goal of the season.
Northwestern took the early lead in the 16th minute of play. The Rangers scored on a long crossing shot by freshman Chelsea Comtois.
In the overtime period each team had shot on goal opportunities but was unable to convert the shot. Northwestern Oklahoma now has a 7-4-1 season record overall and is 1-1-1 in SAC play.
Oklahoma Christian will host Texas Wesleyan University in women's and men's games here Saturday (Oct. 8). The Lady Eagles game will begin at 2 p.m. with the men's games to follow at 4 p.m.
