Lady Eagles suffer rare home loss

The Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles suffered their first regular-season home loss in nearly two years on Tuesday night, falling to Kansas Wesleyan University 1-0.

Oklahoma Christian's last regular-season home loss was on Oct. 22, 2005, to John Brown University by a 4-1 score. The Lady Eagles' last home loss of any kind came by a 1-0 count to College of the Southwest (N.M.) in last season's regional championship game. Oklahoma Christian went through the 2006 regular season undefeated (16-0-2) and finished with a 17-2-2 overall record.

After an Emma Cole shot hit off the crossbar in the first minute, the Lady Eagles struggled to find scoring opportunities.

Heather Muilenburg scored the lone goal of the game in the 28th minute with a strike from just outside the box over OC keeper Lisa Jorgensen. Kansas Wesleyan outshot the Lady Eagles 15-9 in the game.

The loss drops Oklahoma Christian's record to 1-1 on the year. The Lady Eagles will travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday before returning to the OC pitch on Saturday to take on William Jewell (Mo.) at 5:30 p.m.
