Lady Eagles Fall to Newman

The Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles had their unbeaten string snapped as Newman University (Kan.) took a 3-1 decision here Sept. 11. The loss leaves OC with a 3-1 record while Newman improves to 3-2-1.

Taking charge early, Newman scored in the first minute of play on a quick goal by Katie Mason. She scored from the right side of the net after as assist by Ashley Ellsworth.

The Lady Eagles bounced back to tie it up in the 29th minute. After Edmond product Shannon Wahl was fouled inside the penalty area, sophomore Megan Childers took the penalty shot. Childers caught the goalkeeper off balance and scored into the right corner of the net.

Newman went ahead 2-1 on Jenny Walsh's goal in the 64th minute and the visitor's picked up another score on an own goal by OC in the 72nd minute.
