Lady Eagles rout SNU, 5-0

The 11th-ranked Oklahoma Christian University women's soccer team improved its record to 12-0-1 by shutting out Southern Nazarene University 5-0 Friday.

Junior Taryn Caylor scored four times, with three of the goals coming in the second half. Speedy freshman Stephanie Duncan added another score and assisted Caylor on three of her four strikes.

The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead to the halftime break after Caylor touched in a long pass from Duncan just past the SNU goalkeeper at the 29:40 mark.

In the second half, Duncan scored after dribbling 30 yards through the defense and evading the oncoming goalkeeper to give OC a 2-0 lead seven minutes in. Caylor's three additional second-half goals gave her the team lead with 16 goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lisa Jorgensen combined with freshman Samantha Foshee for the shutout. The OC defensive quartet of Cassie Tyler, Kacie Hoppe, Jessica Ortman and Alyssa McElvany held SNU to just three shots for the entire game.

OC improved to 8-0-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 12-0-1 overall, tying the school record for wins in a season.

The Lady Eagles will next be in action Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Shawnee against Oklahoma Baptist.
