EDMOND, Okla. (Sept. 29, 2007) – After not playing a home game for 25 days, the Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team tied Park University (Mo.) 1-1 in double-overtime Saturday.
OC is now 3-6-1 on the year.
The Lady Eagles had a pair of goal-scoring chances from All-American Kristin Brown in the game's opening 15 minutes, but could not convert. A scoreless first half ensued as OC outshot Park 7-3.
Park got on the board first, when Natalie Parker gathered the ball from 20 feet out and put the ball in the right side of the goal to put the Lady Pirates up 1-0.
But OC responded. Heather Spencer fielded a long downfield pass from Cassie Tyler in the 77th minute and fired a goal into the lower right side of the net to tie the score.
OC turned Park away the rest of the half and forced the game into extra periods.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Pirates each fired two shots in the first overtime period, with neither able to capitalize. The second stanza saw no shots for either team, resulting in the 1-1 final.
OC outshot Park 17-11 on the day, with eight attempts coming on goal. It was OC's first overtime game of the season.
The Lady Eagles are back in action next Saturday, Oct. 6 in Siloam Springs, Ark., against Sooner Athletic Conference opponent John Brown. The women kickoff at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3 p.m.
