Oklahoma Christian University opened the Sooner Athletic Conference soccer race by defeating St. Gregory's University 5-0 here Sept. 27.
The Lady Eagles (6-4, 1-0) scored in the first 10 minutes of play and pushed out to a 3-0 lead by halftime. Senior forward Megan Childers accounted for goals in the 10th minute and again in the 26th minute, with sophomore Taryn Caylor providing the assist each time.
Caylor had a hand in OC's other first-half goal, taking a pass from freshman Andi Buck, splitting two defenders and drilling a left-footed shot into the net.
In the final half, sophomore Kristin Brown scored off Caylor's third assist of the game. Freshman Ashley Stevenson scored the final Lady Eagles' goal on a header with 3:28 left in the game.
Lisa Jorgensen, with nine saves, recorded her second shutout of the season.
OC will continue conference play against Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee on Saturday (Oct. 1) at noon.
