Lady Eagles fall in California

Sept. 13, 2007 - The Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team fell 3-0 Thursday night to Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Lady Eagles (2-3) have now dropped consecutive road contests.

Despite pitching a second-half shutout, Oklahoma Christian was unable to overcome three first-half goals by Vanguard.

The Lady Eagles surrendered a goal to the Lady Lions' Katheryn Romero five minutes into the game. Romero struck again six minutes later at the 11:40 mark and Danielle Dintino put home VU's third goal to make it 3-0 at the half.

OC managed three shots on goal to VU's six in the second half, but were unable to capitalize. The halftime score stood as Vanguard moved to 4-1-1 on the year. The match was the first one ever between the schools.

OC gets a chance to even its California road trip on Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest at No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.

The Lady Eagles play their next home game on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. against Park University (Mo.).
