Lady Eagles pick up first SAC win at Wayland

PLAINVIEW, Texas (Sept. 18) - Kristin Brown scored a pair of goals as Oklahoma Christian defeated Wayland Baptist (Texas) 3-0 Tuesday night in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer play. OC is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in SAC play.

OC got on the board quickly against WBU with Brown striking less than seven minutes into the contest. The goal came off a penalty kick and vaulted the Lady Eagles to an early 1-0 lead.

The lead would stay the same through the rest of the first half as the two teams went to the halftime break with OC ahead 1-0.

In the match's 69th minute, Brown again was rewarded a penalty kick, which she again converted to make the score 2-0. Just over seven minutes later, freshman Jill Litner provided some insurance with her first career collegiate goal. The score came courtesy of fellow freshman Mackenzie McMahon's assist.

OC held on thanks to fine defensive play and nine saves from Lisa Jorgensen for the 3-0 victory. The shutout was OC's second of the year.

Brown's goals were her second and third of the season. The All-American was OC's leading scorer last year.

Shots abounded on the night, with OC out-firing WBU 27-17. The Lady Eagles put 13 shots on goal to the Flying Queens 9.

OC looks to pick up another SAC win on Thursday as they travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State. The game kickoffs at 7 p.m. in Alva, Okla.
