Lady Eagles advance to SAC title game

Game Stats

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Oct. 29, 2007) - Stephanie Duncan had two goals and an assist as Oklahoma Christian upset top-seeded John Brown (Ark.) 4-2 Monday in the Sooner Athletic Conference semifinals.

Less than four minutes into the match Duncan got OC on the board. The All-American pick from a year ago scored on an assist from Kacie Hoppe at the 3:53 mark.

JBU answered at the 26:18 mark off a score from Sarah Kidd to even the score at 1-1.

Duncan continued the scoring at the 32:22 mark when she put OC back up 2-1. The 2-1 tally held until intermission.

The Golden Eagles tied the game again just six minutes into the second stanza when Rachel Gerdin scored.

OC would outscore JBU 2-0 from there however. Taryn Caylor-Kingery got things started when her shot at the 63:11 mark gave the Lady Eagles the advantage for good.

An Emma Cole score with 50-seconds left in the contest sealed the deal for OC. Both Caylor-Kingery and Cole's goals were unassisted.

Oklahoma Christian, the tournament's No. 7 seed, will play at third-seeded Rogers State (Okla.) in Wednesday's championship game. The game kicks off at 3 p.m.

John Brown, the SAC regular-season champion, fell to 14-4 overall and is assured of a berth in the upcoming NAIA Region VI tournament.

The Lady Eagles would secure the SAC's other automatic bid to regionals if they can win at Rogers State on Wednesday.

This is OC's second visit to Claremore. The teams met on Sept. 11, a 2-0 RSU victory in the conference opener for both teams. This is RSU's first season in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
