OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Oct. 20, 2007) - Playing its final 2007 home regular-season game, the Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team tied Southern Nazarene (Okla.) 2-2 in two overtimes Saturday night.
The draw brought the Lady Eagles' record to 5-9-2 overall and 3-5-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
OC fell behind in the 27th minute of the first half when SNU's Kelli Traves scored off an assist from Randi Duncan.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Lady Eagles answered when Kristin Brown gathered a pass from Heather Spencer in the box and ripped a hard shot into the left side to tie the score at 1-1.
The 1-1 tally held until halftime.
At the 61:31 mark of the second stanza, Spencer slid home the go-ahead goal off a low pass from Stephanie Duncan to put OC up 2-1.
At the 78:54 point, SNU's Rachel Eguren fired a line-drive shot into the net to again tie the score, where it would stay through regulation.
With 3:50 left in the first overtime, OC's Taryn Caylor-Kingery came inches away from ending the game when her driving shot was stabbed out of mid-air by SNU's Erica Brown.
The Crimson Storm outshot the Lady Eagles 3-to-2 in the extra frames with Caylor-Kingery's shot being the only attempt on goal.
The Lady Eagles now await their draw in the upcoming Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. OC will be the No. 6 or No. 7 seed in the tournament, to be held Oct. 27, 29 and 31.
