Eagles power past Bronchos in OT

Box score

The first regular-season meeting between Oklahoma Christian and Central Oklahoma since 1989 was worth the wait.

In a hard-fought, physical contest that was close from wire to wire, the third-ranked Eagles prevailed 75-73 in overtime over their NCAA Division II crosstown rivals Saturday in the final night of the Sleep Inn Classic.

Battling on even terms throughout the game, OC junior Micah Miles and UCO senior Kentrell Gaddis traded baskets in the final seconds to lock it up 62-62 and send the game into overtime.

Baskets by Kendrick Jackson and Charles Baldwin and a pair of free throws by Miles gave the Eagles a 68-65 lead in the extra period, and tight defense shut the Bronchos down until the final minute.

Junior Keith Harris and Miles each connected for a pair from the line in the final 12 seconds to clinch the game at 75-70. A trey by UCO's Jason Greene at the buzzer accounted for the final margin.

The win lifted Dan Hays' Eagles to 5-0 while UCO dropped to 0-2.

Harris led the Eagles with 17 points. Baldwin, Miles and Brady Page each finished with 11 points. Jackson had nine points and a game-high nine rebounds while John Nottley finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
