The Oklahoma Christian men's and women's basketball teams earned conference victories over Southern Nazarene here Jan. 9.
In the women's contest, No. 16 OC pulled away in the second half to win 80-66. The win moved the Lady Eagles into a tie with Oklahoma City University for first place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Lady Eagles led by just two at halftime, 37-35, after the Crimson Storm's Jamie Morgan scored with five seconds remaining. Three-point shots by Rachel Martin, Carrie Mills and Mackenzie Walker helped Oklahoma Christian pull away in the second half.
After a late SNU run, Decker went coast to coast and completed an old-fashioned three-point play with 1:56 remaining to seal the victory. The Lady Eagles are now 10-4 overall and 3-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Lady Eagles were paced by Rachel Martin and Lauren Decker, who each scored 18 points. Carlissa Plowden netted 15 points while Katie Farris scored nine points and collected 13 rebounds in the game.
In men's action, the fourth-ranked Eagles overcame a 23 percent shooting effort in the first half to beat the 14th-ranked Crimson Storm 67-60.
Dillon Ripley scored a career-best 18 points while also collecting a career-high 10 rebounds.
The Eagles trailed 26-23 at halftime and trailed by seven points early in the second half, but freshman guard Jared Mitchel hit a three-pointer at the 10:40 mark to give OC a 42-40 lead which it never gave back.
Keith Harris scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Brady Page had 16 points and five assists.
The Eagles are now 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles return to action Thursday when they visit St. Gregory's University. The women's game will tip at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
