TYLER, Texas (Sept. 4, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles came away with a 2-1 victory in their second game of the season Friday night versus the University of Texas-Tyler.
The Oklahoma Christian University women's soccer team experienced a tough first half against the NCAA Division III school. The Lady Eagles started the game behind with an early goal by Texas-Tyler's Ashley Crawford. Through a number of shots, Oklahoma Christian was unable to find the net during the first half leaving the Lady Eagles down 1-0.
The second half proved to be a change of pace for the Lady Eagles. While still being down 1-0, part way through the second half OC's Callie White put the ball past the keeper to tie the game at 1-1.
The score remained tied for nearly the rest of the game until a scoring opportunity came in the last minute. With only seconds to spare, OC's Hope Heinen found the goal to win the game for the Lady Eagles.
Through a long fought match, OC's Allie Cofer kept the ball out of the net making eight saves out of the nine shots on goal.
The Lady Eagles are 2-0 on the season and return to the field tomorrow in a double header with the men's team against Northwood University (Texas) at 3:00pm.
