Lady Eagles earn second conference win

ALVA, Okla. (Oct. 6, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team added another victory to their record on Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles outmatched Northwestern Oklahoma State in a 4-0 shutout.

The Lady Eagles began the game with intensity heading straight to Northwestern Oklahoma's goal. After several close shots, Hope Heinen got her foot on the ball to put one in for the Lady Eagles giving them an early lead. Less than two minutes later, OC defender Kacie Hoppe headed the ball into the net off a Taylor Cofer assist.

Now up 2-0, the Lady Eagles continued to batter Northwestern's goal with shots, however, none were able to penetrate the goal before the completion of the first half.

At the start of the second period, OC wasted no time putting pressure on NWSU's goal. After a collection of shots, the Lady Eagles ended up with another goal after NWSU deflected a ball into their own goal to put OC up 3-0.

Through even more shots at the NWSU goal, India Farr found the net later in the half from an assist by Emma Cole to give the Lady Eagles another point on the board.

The Lady Eagles also proved their defensive prowess by holding the NWSU women to only four shots for the game's entirety.

The OC women continued to fire on the goal for the remainder of the game but ended up with the 4-0 shutout to earn their eighth win of the season. The Lady Eagles are now 8-2-1 for the season.

The Lady Eagles return home to the OC soccer field to play Mid-America Christian (Okla.) in a double header with the men's team. The women's kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men's at 8:00 p.m.
