Eagles suffer second loss to Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. (Feb. 6, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team suffered their second loss of the season to Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) on Saturday night in a 64-54 decision.

The first several minutes of the game saw several lead changes and ties. With 14:54 left in the first half, the game sat tied at 8-8 before the Southern Nazarene men took a lead they never forfeited.

After the Crimson Storm got ahead 16-8 on an 8-0 run, the OC men responded with a 9-2 run to trail by one with 6:29 left in the period. The Crimson Storm pulled away again before halftime finishing out the period with 12-point lead at 33-21.

During the second period, the Eagles tried time and time again to close SNU's gap coming with four points with 15:10 yet to play.  Despite being down, the Eagles came within five points with 6:48 remaining in the game.

With 50 seconds left to play, the Eagles trailed by 10 at 59-49. Utilizing fouls, the Eagles cut the Crimson Storm's lead down to six with 33 seconds remaining. Despite their efforts, the Eagles ended up dropping the match 64-54 to lose to SNU for the second time this season.

Jason Taylor led the Eagles with 12 points from the paint while additionally making nine rebounds in the process.

Jeff Crocker scored 10 points during the game while both Chad Endres and David Jackson each had eight points for the night. Jackson also made fives steals for the night.

The loss leaves the Eagles with a 17-6 overall record and a 9-6 record for the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The Eagles will join the women's team in hosting Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) next Thursday night in the Eagles' Nest with the games starting at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively.
