OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Aug. 26, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team played to a dominant 6-2 victory over Bacone College (Okla.) in Thursday night's home opener.

The Lady Eagles took little time gaining the lead over the Lady Warriors with Chloe Harrison netting a goal in the first minute of the game off an Angela Pete corner kick. Minutes later OC's Taylor Jorgensen put the ball past BC's keeper off of Harrison's assist to give the Lady Eagles a 2-0 early lead.

Moments later, a foul in the Bacone box gave Taylor Cofer the chance to add another goal to the board leaving the Lady Eagles ahead 3-0.

The Lady Warriors managed their way onto the board with a goal headed in by Brittany Woodward from an assist by Jennifer Contreras to make the score 3-1. Bacone cut the Lady Eagles' lead again minutes later with a successful penalty kick taken by Woodward.

Unable to respond, the Lady Eagles ended the half with a 3-2 lead over the Lady Warriors.

The OC women took to the field in the second half with increasing momentum as they kept BC from making a single shot on goal. With 28 minutes left to play, OC's Natalie Goens used a Jorgensen assist to put one past the keeper giving the Lady Eagles a 4-2 advantage.

Later in the half, the Lady Eagles continued to push things forward and gained another penalty kick opportunity when Hope Heinan was fouled in the box. Heinan fired the ball past the keeper to increase the Lady Eagles to a 5-2 lead.

With less than seven minutes left to play, Emma Cole utilized a breakaway and an assist from Goens to net the Lady Eagles another goal and left the Lady Eagles with a 6-2 victory.

The Lady Eagles start the season at 1-0 and will return to the OC Soccer Field on Saturday to face Baker University (Kan.) in a women's and men's double header with the women starting a 5 p.m. and the men to follow at 7 p.m.
