Goalkeeper Chelsie Flagg had four saves for OC in a 2-0 loss to Oklahoma Baptist.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 18, 2011) – Courtney Anderson scored in the first half for Oklahoma Baptist and Elisa Brito added a second-half penalty kick as the Bison beat Oklahoma Christian 2-0 on Tuesday in women's soccer.
Playing into a chilly north wind, the Bison (5-8-1, 4-2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on Anderson's goal. Oklahoma Christian goalkeeper Kaitlyn Whitten thought Anderson's shot was going to sail wide and let it go instead of stopping it, but the ball caromed off the left post and into the net.
The one-goal margin remained until the 74-minute mark, when a foul on the Lady Eagles in the penalty area gave OBU the penalty kick, which Brito knocked past goalkeeper Chelsie Flagg, who plays the second half for OC (4-9-1, 1-5-1).
OBU outshot the Lady Eagles 24-12. Courtney Anderson had nine shots for the Bison, while Angela Pete took four to lead OC.
Whitten had five saves and Flagg had four for OC. OBU goalkeeper Shannon Griffith had five saves while posting her second shutout of the season and the third for the Bison.
