OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Oct. 9, 2010) – Despite controlling the majority of the game, the Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team fell in a 1-0 defeat against Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday evening.
The Lady Eagles played a competitive first half against the Lady Rangers as they attacked the Northwestern Oklahoma goal with 10 shots during the period. OC held NWOSU to just six shots during the half, however, an early break by the Lady Rangers yielded a goal putting the Lady Eagles down 1-0.
Despite the Lady Eagles' numerous efforts to respond, they came up short unable to score before heading into halftime.
The second period again saw a quick Lady Eagles squad determined to score. The OC women put up an additional eight shots during the second half but again were unable to find the net. The Lady Eagles held a firm defense during the period holding the Lady Rangers to a single shot.
Nevertheless, the early 1-0 Northwestern lead proved detrimental for the Lady Eagles as they again came up scoreless during the second period and suffered the loss.
The defeat brings the OC women to a 2-7-1 season record with a 1-3 conference play record.
The OC soccer teams will head across town to play Mid-America Christian University on Tuesday with the women kicking off at 1 p.m. and the men to follow at 3 p.m.
