OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Dec. 28, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team had no issues taking down Dallas Christian College in the Nest as the Eagles outplayed the Crusaders 73-56 on Tuesday night.
The Eagles never trailed Dallas Christian during the game after Jeff Crocker got things rolling for OC with an early three pointer as they began a 20-4 run to lead by 16 points with 8:36 still left till the half.
Despite subsequent baskets from the Crusaders, the Eagles had no hesitation to make the lead even larger as they managed a 19-point advantage with less than four minutes left in the period.
After a few exchanges of baskets, the Eagles headed to the locker with 38-19 showing on the scoreboard.
Just minutes into the second period, the Eagles continued to drive through the DCC defense as their 10-3 run gave OC a 26-point advantage with 15:37 left in regulation.
Despite the large lead, the Eagles met some resistance as the Crusaders retaliated with a 19-5 run to come within 12 points of the Eagles, however, OC responded quickly to create a 20-point margin with 4:10 left on the clock.
As the Eagles held the large advantage, the DCC men continued to fight for the basket and pushed till the buzzer sounded with the OC men at a 17-point lead as they claimed the 73-56 victory.
Chad Endres paced the Eagles with an impressive double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in addition to four assists and two steals.
Crocker also made a mark with a 13-point game overall while Will Reinke contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. Andre Vaughn and Eric Randall each recorded eight point games with six rebounds from Vaughn and five from Randall.
The victory improves the Eagles to 8-3 for the season as they prepare to head to the road for their next match as they take on conference rival Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) on Saturday. The New Year's match will tip off at 5 p.m.
