OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Jan. 6, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team blew past Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) 75-57 in the Nest on Thursday night.
The Eagles never trailed against the Mid-America Christian men after Will Reinke put up a basket in the paint to take the first lead of the game. OC put up 10 points before the Evangels even got on the board.
With 13:59 still to play in the first half, the Eagles had created a 12-point margin over the MACU men. The Evangels responded with a 10-4 run to close the gap to six points, but the Eagles quickly retaliated with a 9-2 run to push to a 13-point lead.
With 3:04 left in the half, the Eagles increased their lead further 17 points and created a 21-point margin over the Evangels with 19 seconds till the buzzer. After two good free throws from the MACU men, the Eagles headed into the locker room with a 19-point advantage at 43-24.
A few minutes into the second half, the Eagles took their largest lead of the game at 23 points. Throughout the remainder of the game, OC never allowed the Evangels within 14 points.
With 4:59 left on the clock, the Eagles led by 22 before the MACU men put up a 10-2 run to cut the gap to 14 points. The OC men utilized the final minutes of the game, however, to push back to an 18-point victory at 75-57.
Reinke led the Eagles for the evening putting up 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and making three blocks. Chad Endres added another 12 points to the total in addition to five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Eric Randal and Andre Vaughn each added 10 points apiece to the Eagles' total while Vaughn made five boards as well.
The win leaves the Eagles to 10-4 for the season and puts them at 4-3 for conference play. The OC men will join the women on the road for the next match as they head across town to play Oklahoma City University on Saturday. The women are scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
