A former coach at the NCAA Division I level, Andrew McGuire is an assistant coach at Oklahoma Christian, working with the Eagles’ hitters and infielders. He joined the OC staff in May 2012.
OC made three straight trips to the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series in McGuire's first three seasons -- winning the NCCAA Central Region title each year -- and reached the Heartland Conference tournament championship round during his fourth season. One of McGuire's pupils, Blake Stringer, earned NCAA Division II All-America honors in 2014, and another, Derek Jones, received NCCAA All-America honorable mention in 2015.
McGuire, 39, worked as an assistant coach at Oklahoma and Texas-Pan American before a stint as an assistant at Edmond Santa Fe High School, where he worked alongside current OC head coach Lonny Cobble, who was Santa Fe’s head coach.
McGuire, who’s from Sherman, Texas, played at Oklahoma in 2003 and 2004 and was the college roommate of former OC assistant coach Russell Raley. McGuire served as the Sooners’ student assistant coach in 2005 and was OU’s first-base coach in 2006 under then-head coach Sunny Golloway, a former OC player and assistant coach. The Sooners reached the NCAA tournament both seasons, advancing to a super regional in 2006.
He worked as a full-time assistant at Division I Texas-Pan American during the 2007 season. McGuire joined Cobble’s staff at Edmond Santa Fe for the 2008 season. He also teaches physical science at Edmond Santa Fe in addition to coaching at OC.
